Default Underfloor heating controller problem ?

We fitted electric underfloor heating back in about April, and over
the last couple of days i've noticed the LCD display is _very_ faint
(possibly a bad connection ?!?) - but it seems OK when i've checked it
overnight when it's normally in a sort of "top up" mode

Do LCDs tend to suffer if the ambient temperature is low ? - the
controller is in an ante-room, which is basically a small square with
a tumble dryer and a single glazed back door with a huge sodding dog
flap to let the mutt out, so if ambient temp can be a problem for it,
it might not be a "real" issue to worry about :-}

They also suffer from moisture, but when they warm up/dry out they are
usually fine.

Definitely. I think they are more or less banned from military equipment
for that reason, fragility and inability to do heat being the others.

Just seems odd that it goes back to working again when the heating
goes off :-}

i.e. when the relay inside the programmer is de-energised and is no
longer drawing current

sounds like e.g the charger for the internal battery has gone faulty or
there is a problem with the R-C dropper/zener or something like that

Wonder whether TLC-Direct would replace it as a consumer purchase, or
class it as a business purchase...
