Default What to do with a 25m long 17inch deep gas pipe trench

Hello all,

I am replacing my oil boiler with a gas condensing boiler. As part of
the work of getting a gas feed into new boiler I had to dig a trench
from my new meter box at the front of the property to the location of
the boiler at the back of the property. The approx length of the
trench is about 25 meters and as per regs is about 17inch deep.

My question is...

1) Ground heating wise, and as the trench is already there, is it
worth adding blue pipe up and down the garden (50m) as some kind of
poor mans ground heating system. (No plans to do ground heating at the
moment but.....)

2) Legally am allowed to put anything in the same trench as my gas
pipe.

3) Would the stuff flowing through the gas pipe have any cooling
effect on the ground?

I think you'd need a lot more pipe than that - and probably deeper.
Our installation has 6 x 100m loops, set at least 3ft below ground. I
don;t think that single 5Om loop will be any use to you.

Dunno - might well be some regulations ??

See above - not enough to make any difference g

Regards
Adrian

Same is true for earth cooling pipes - unless you could use a limited
amount of coolth.
