Default washing machine hose washers

i'm trying to fit a washing machine hose so it doesnt leak. initially
it was because one washer was missing on the straight end (connects to
cold water supply).

i've got a washer now 3/4" same size as on the other end. but it
doesnt seem to be obvious how to fit it. the plastic part is different
on the end that goes into the machine. there is more of a lip for the
washer to sit on securely. can anyone tell me how it should be fitted
or send a photo or something??

Just installed a new dishwasher ...

The two ends were different, one end takes a standard looking rubber
washer the other takes a rubber washer with a large integral metal
sieve (particulate filter) which extends 3-4 mm into the connector it
mates with.

Not seen one like this before. Note that the old pipe that came off
with the old dishwasher wasn't like that it was symmetrical. So
clearly they vary.

Maybe try a new pipe set complete (from B&Q) ?

thanks i'll have to check again in a DIY store. i went down there and
looked the other day but i think i was looking at the wrong end. i'm
pretty sure each end has a different type of washer as the 3/4 inch
one doesnt want to fit comfortably on the inlet pipe end!
