Default Plymouth-Plumber/CH engineer urgently required.

Can anyone help ?

My son/wife and baby returned home yesterday from their xmas visit to
us (300 miles ) to find that their c/h and hot water boiler wouldn't
fire up.
It is a Powermax 155, electrics are OK, he has increased pressure and
there is a water drip from it, but it won't fire. He has tried every
plumber in the yellow pages ( including all the 24 hr emergency ones,
who don't work 24 hrs !!!) but can't get anyone to come at all !!!???
Any suggestions or help offers very gratefully received. He is
desperate.
Thanks

OK, thanks for that Andrew, I have passed that on to son and he is
going to look in the book.
He said that the fan does not come on at all and that is the first step
in the fire up sequence... so a dud fan perhaps ?

reset button or procedure which needs to be performed before
it will work again. Many boilers seem to remember they're
locked-out across a power failure, so just switching the power
off and on may well not reset it. The instruction manual
should say how to.

Failing that, a much more detailed description of how far it
gets when trying to fire up will be required.

Is the pilot light on? If not then it might just be the thermocouple which
is a few quid from any DIY shed or plumbers merchant and 10 minutes to fit.

Anyway, real men don't have central heating. Bessy the boiler expired in
June and I'm now surviving the cold weather thanks to the gas fire in the
lounge. The rest of the house is cold enough to freeze a witch's tits off.
Bathtime consists of boiling a kettle, filling a bucket and bathing and
washing my hair over a big plastic storage box in front of the gas fire. It
ain't pretty but I guess things were worse in the middle ages and humanity
still made it through.

Dave,

Can't you do a 'combined heat and power' thing with one of those
engines of yours - plumb c/h system in as engine radiatorG
