When the Rover SD1 first came on-line they were supplied to several
police forces as traffic cars. The first police spec versions were very
basic with no power steering. Manoeuvering the things in tight spaces
was bloody awful! A heavy car, heavy engine, and big fat tyres made the
steering excessively heavy.

Fortunately they were built to rust and none survived very long :-)
