GG subscribers would be well advised get a newsreader, say Agent, and a newsserver, say news.individual.net. These will allow them: to see only *new* posts, a killfile, and other goodies. |

Please see my apology and late reply above. Actually can we all stop posting and just use Google for everything. Sometimes a little direct information (esp. by the more knowledgable and non-patronizing folk in this NG) (you know who you are) is a great help - particularly for idiots like me with only two university science degrees (in Elec. Eng and Computer Science), 30 years software development on many platforms and blah blah blah. However I still haven't quite got the hang of typing g o o g l y - damn, wrong again. Show us the light and the way Mr. Clever raden you are so are so er, clever and witty - I just wish I could have thought of that. Sorry also for this WOB. Stress does funny things to us all. It just goes to show ... even a thick **** can get a degree (or two), and someone prolly actually pays him to do ... something sorry mate - you're a ****** - despite your training, you seem to be incapable of using the tools available to resolve a problem, you need someone to hold your hand -- geoff |

All seals are not created equal oh wize one. This one has (for some totally unfathomable reason) decide to split across the top. Far be it from me to suggest that in 5 years it just possibly *could* be a materials failure. Ah yes - your suggestion must be the answer - it's all us thoughtless people opening and closing the door that's done it! Inconsiderate twa*s. I've done something similar for my 14 year old fridge recently... If the seal is symmetrical just take it off, turn it upside down and replace. If you pull the seal away on the inside it might reveal fixing screws for the door inner that hold it in place. While the seal is off give it a good clean and a thorough rinse. I found that oxy cleaning powder is pretty good. I bet a lot of seals fail because cleaners are used on them that leach out the plasticiers in the plastic and make it brittle. Maybe Hotpoint would know what is best. cheers, Pete. |
