Competitors replacing boiler,radiators and boiler plus power flush but
leaving old pipework in place,
claimed that power flush might also lead to later leaks.
System is 40years old.Boiler around 15 years. Any truth in risks of
just power flushing for boiler or susequent leaks?

Powerflushing can leave leaks. It is best to insert "Fernox" cleaner. It is
aggressive and will clean the system out. Flush out well. Insert a
Magnaclean or Boiler Buddy filter on the return pipe to the boiler.

If the rads look crap then replace them.
