Hanging Basket Irrigation - specialised pipe system or Hep2O?
Would you use 10mm plastic plumbing pipe for automatic watering of
hanging baskets or would you buy pipe and fittings specially for the purpose? TIA Adrian |

Hmmm... probably buy the specialised fittings because some national company has researched this area and has created a kit of bits. Having said that, you can buy a "dribble" pipe and fittings from B&Q that may do the trick. Having acquired a consumer-unit timer module (some electrician said that it was faulty - the presumption is that it isn't faulty but the ageing electrician took the easy option to replace it) I have great plans to hook this up via a washing machine solenoid and our mains water supply to provide automatic hanging-basket watering for some minutes overnight. I'll wait until I get the new en-suite finished first... Mungo :-) |

Only trouble was it watered the baskets whether they needed watering or not. I found out that the baskets were looking finished well before their time. Went back to manual watering. Pain in the arse but baskets look brighter for longer. |
