Hi folks, just wondered what the general opinion was on the worst household chore. Got to be a two horse race between cleaning the inside of the windows and cleaning the oven. Nope. If: You operate in a very wealthy area. You offer a large range of other domestic services not just oven cleaning. ... or you might be able to operate as a sub contractor to a One-stop-domestic services shop. A wiser and/or poorer customer will have little need of your services. 1) Really it's only roasting and grilling that makes ovens dirty. 2) Someone who is seriously into (1) will get a self cleaning oven thus avoiding much of (1) 3) A little care with baking trays and the like can save many accidents in the oven. 4) So long as the oven works who cares about cleaning (at least 60%+ of users will hold to this). Also note that there will be a _very_ small proportion of _very_ nasty people who will try and pin pre-existing oven problems onto to you. -- Ed Sirett - Property maintainer and registered gas fitter. Worst chore - removing a fresh cat turd from the litter tray while
suffering from a hangover... I'd clean my own oven rather than spend £40... You could probably get some self-cleaning liners for that price! |

Would you pay £40 to have someone overhaul your oven No. I wouldn't pay for anyone to do anything in my kitchen. De-frosting the fridge or the freezer is the worst job, having to find space for all the stuff I take out. Hrumph. Rationalising the pantry is bad but it can be done piece-meal. Cleaning the oven isn't a problem, a quick wipe round with a clean damp cloth when it's hot is easy - as longas you don't allow stuff to linger. Mary |

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember saying something like: We are considering taking on an Oven Cleaning franchise but are curious about the market. Would you pay £40 to have someone overhaul your oven Nowt wrong with a bottle of petrol and a match. -- Dave |

Worst Household Chores ?
The message
from "Mary Fisher" contains these words: I LOVE ironing! While driving through France some years ago our son was showing his little sister (then 9 months old) a lift-the-flap book. "And here's the kitchen. Look, there's a cupboard and when you open it you can see all the things inside. There's a hoover, a pair of wellies and.... Dad? Why's there a surfboard in the kitchen cupboard?" You can tell you don't iron, can't you? Since we moved 5 years ago we've ironed shirts for two funerals and a handful of posh dinners, pressed the curtains before hemming them and made a number of iron-on teeshirt designs. -- Skipweasel Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. |
