Potterton Netaheat restart pilot?
wrote in message ups.com... Help! How do you relight the pilot light on a Potterton Netaheat boiler? Do you have to take the thing apart? Thanks fo any info.... Richard The Pottertom Netaheat 'boiler' _does not_ have a pilot light ..... (as such) the ignition sequence is;- electricerky in, starts fan which pressurises the casing ... the pressurised casing (air pressure switch) enables gas (solenoid) valve admitting gas to the first burner and starts a spark across a spark-gap; this should cause the gas to ignite with a solitary flame ... this heats a thermocouple which energises a solenoid admitting gas to the main burners which will 'catch' from the initial burning flame - and Bob's your Uncle; - main burner aflame. The sequence occurs every time the boiler is turned on and off. btw; unless you're going to over-ride the logic of the device it's not possible to (normally) get a flame without the casing on, secure, and providing a pressurised 'innards. If your Netaheat isn't lighting when you turn it on ... you've got a problem ....;- is there electricity? is there gas? does the fan come on when the boiler is energised? [You'll hear this, or feel it through your hands on the casing] [A knackered fan assembly is a common reason for the boiler deciding not to bother going any further] can you feel the duct outlet? is there any trace of a smell of (unburnt) gas? can you hear a 'click-click-click' of the spark across the spark-gap? -- Brian |
