Towel radiator

Hi, anyone know what size towel radiator thingy I would need for a bathroom
measuring 2.64M length x 1.7M width x 2.6M height?

Can I use one as a straight swap for a central heating radiator?

jez.

Not if you want any heating in the room. Towel radiators don't
give off any heat when they're covered in towels. Even with no
towels, they give off less heat than the same sized radiator.

It's impossible to say what the heating requirement is just from the
dimensions - so much depends on the construction and insulation
characteristics.

If you have a conventional radiator at the moment which is adequate - but
not much more - replacing it with a towel radiator of the same size will be
hopelessly inadequate - 'cos towel radiators have pretty pathetic heat
outputs due to their small surface areas. If you want a towel radiator,
install one *in addition* to a normal radiator rather than *instead of* it.

Thanks guys. Are ladder radiators the same thing as towel radiators?

Pretty much.

You should be able to get a figure for the heat output of any towel radiator
you might be considering - and compare it with the figure for your existing
radiator. Size for size, your towel radiator will give you far less than
half the output of a normal rad - and that's *before* you put towels on it!
