Default Main fuse & lead seal issue

A friend of mine opened up the door to their external electericity
meter box on a newly purchased house and found that the lead seal for
the main fuse had been broken and was lying on the bottom of the box.

Is this going to be a problem, say, with the electricity supplier? The
seal for the meter is OK.

Thanks

AFAIK this isn't a problem. Call them up if worried & say the
house has just been bought.

My meter is missing a seal where the two tails come into/out of
the meter. There's just a bit of wire there. I think whoever
called around some years ago to replace the supply cable just
forgot to seal it up. I am a bit worried about it. I have
just left it as it is.

Don't worry about it. It's only the meter seal that matters.

Christian.

Beg to differ on this - if the seal is missing off the main fuse, the
previous occupant might have been "sitco" - straight in to cut out.

This is a very common fiddle and the revenue protection people might
take an unhealthy interest.

Call the elec. co. and report it just to cover your own a*se.
