Hotpoint NVLR333E heater coils
i have a dryer that keeps melting the heater coils. it works fine for a
couple of loads, then melts the coils in half. also, the timer doesn't work. is this a problem with the timer or the thermostat? what do i need to check, and how do i need to check it? |

Hi, Is it like this one? http://users.ev1.net/~oschmidt/geheatcoil.html Is it the right part? Did you get the connections right? are all the standoffs there? Unusual vibrations? does it always break in the same place? Richard |

it's the same.
it was the right part. the connections were right. the standoffs were there. it had the usual vibrations. it doesn't allway break in the same place. i don't know if the coils are getting too hot or what. i am not even sure how to go about figuring out this problem. i know how to take the dryer apart, but that's about it. i work on multi million dollar servers, not washers and dryers. i could figure it out, i just need guidance. i'm a computer doctor, not a maytag man! j/k sorry... http://www.pcappliancerepair.com/dry...shtml#elements P/N: WE11X103 P/N: WE11X203 for restringing kit. |

Hmm well in line with that heater circuit is the thermal cutout ,
operating thermostat and the over temp thermostat. if the op thermostat was malfunctioning the over temp would cause the heater to shut down as below. BTW do you have a schematic? usually taped to the back or in behind the control panel: http://groups.msn.com/Appliantology/...to&PhotoID=316 so unless the heater elements are running over rated..also caused by a short in the heater circuit, coil touching a ground. Alternately do the clothes seem too hot?? Sometimes the multimillion dollar jobs can be brought down by a very simple element. Richard |

I'd run it on the air fluff cycle and see what the air flow is like. -- N |
