NPR rated # 1 (in all radio)

"NPR's “Morning Edition'' remains the highest-rated news show on radio" -- http://www.nytimes.com/2012/10/15/bu...pagewanted=all I like NPR, listen to it every day. I do hear just enough snide leftist hjabs to keep me from sending them any money. And I sure don't want my tax dollars going to them. If they suddenly woke up and became truly objective and apolitical, I'd support some funding, personal or collective. But I'll believe it when I hear it. |

If they suddenly woke up and became truly objective and apolitical, I'd support some funding, personal or collective. But I'll believe it when I hear it. All NPR programming suffers from two major defects: 1. Left wing bias 2. Elitism Here's an example of the bias. Every four years, when they report stories pertaining to the race for president, they always play a *LOT* of long segments of the Democrat's speeches, and virtually none of the Republican's. This has been going on for decades. They openly root for the Democrat. The elitism shows up in all the obscure "arts" **** they cover. There's more. I can't stand any stories about stuff going on in foreign countries. There's an extremely forced, contrived format they *ALWAYS* use - no exceptions. We always have to listen to some foreigner jabbering away for 5-8 seconds, before the translator jumps in and tells us what he's saying. It's pointless - if you understand the language, then you don't want to hear the translator, and if you don't understand the language, hearing the 5-8 seconds of jabber means nothing. But they *ALWAYS* do it that way - there's a left-wing elitist view that we "need" to hear a few seconds of foreign jabber, especially if it's wacky third worlders. I listen to NPR because the basic production values of their programming are good, but the style makes me puke, as does the bias in the substance. All public funding for NPR, PBS and CPB should be ended immediately. There's no valid reason for it. |
