That is my point. Rush gets paid based on how many listeners there are to broadcast advertising toward. hawke does not seem to understand that. I think he wants the government to step in and dictate who is on the radio and how much they earn. Dan Ill bet he is a big fan of the Fairness Doctrine...chuckle Rush has 40,000,000 listeners every week, with a minority of the listeners being Leftwingers taking notes Leftwingers hate the numbers..seriously hate the huge listener base..and every so often they try to push the Fairness Doctrine on AM radio. This of course has been proven to be an utter failure..look at the life span of every Leftwing radio show. Air America went tits up after 18 months of ever decreasing listeners. NO leftwinger has lasted more than about a year as a radio host except in tiny areas..and those areas are Leftwing enclaves. If the Public wanted to listen to Lefties...the Lefties wouldnt have gone tits up. (Sorry about the thread necromancy, just got back from a break.) The only exception I know that proves the rule is Sir Michael Jackson - No, not the Gloved One, the one that was on KABC for decades till someone up high decided they didn't need a "Token Liberal" on the mid-day slots anymore. The ratings were always good because he knew how to be contrary and civil at the same time, and he didn't bash it over the 'other' audience's head so you tolerated his views for the wealth of information - and he had a killer Rolodex of important people that wouldn't give Rush or Hannity the time of day. -- Bruce -- |
