I didn't even look at the link, but it's hard to believe you could get
anything useful when going from bmp to dxf, let alone then going dxf to
g code.

We use Casmate to change raster images like bmps, gifs and jpgs to dxf
format vector drawings all the time. For art and signs, it works
great, although usually requires a bit of work to clean up and chain
boundaries before putting into the postprocessor before LASER or
waterjet cutting.

All 2D work, of course.
