How the hell

do you guys do it? We had 12 inches of snow here in southern Utah in the past 24 hours. I can't imagine what it would be like to live in this ****. We took pictures, the dogs romped around, I had to go out with the broom and clear off the windshield so I can go to town. I had to go up on the roof and scrape the snow off the dish so I could watch tv. I cannot imagine living all winter like this. Damn, I wish my dish was still working. Tree from the windstorm took down power line, opened neutral and the voltage swing killed the dish pvr. I miss my C-Span. Hope the 508 I bought on Ebay is clean with no outstanding bills. It is about 6F atm, electric crew just finished repairing neutral. I'm looking longingly atm at a 8KW pad mount LP powered generator. If the job in the automotive segment wasn't looking so uncertain, I'd whip out the debit card and say send me one of those. Ah, I can't imagine living all year in a ez bake oven so we are even. Wes |

Ah, I can't imagine living all year in a ez bake oven so we are even. Wes Wes Winter is here for us in AZ. It is 15 December and we are having our tough winter days. 46 to 68 at my house. Maybe a few more bad days like this but for sure not many. Give me the heat anytime. You don't really know how the cold states suffer until you watch the bad winter weather on TV when you day was spent in jeans and a tee shirt. My house is all electric and my electricity is $110.00 every month all year long. My neice in PA spends 2500 to 3000 for just oil. And electricity on top of that. I for sure will never move from the sunbelt to the snow belt. Bob AZ |

As an EX PA resident of over 50 years and lately for 21 a NM one I'd never consider that part of th country again. ...lew... (this is a fun thread :-) ) |

Between me and the wife, we got over 100 years total in Vegas. But I don't take the heat very well now with the cardio stuff. It gets hot enough here, so we try to get up to the cabin in summer. I'll take cold any day. You can dress for it. When it's hot, after you take off all your clothes, you are still uncomfortable. Steve |

And everyone around you, too. ;-) I was very heat intolerant for several years. I would sweat like crazy in a 65 degree room. It turns out that the idiot doctors had me on so low of a sodium level in my diet that it was causing it. Now, I can take 80 degrees without getting dizzy. -- http://improve-usenet.org/index.html aioe.org, Goggle Groups, and Web TV users must request to be white listed, or I will not see your messages. Today is a very moderate -17*C (about 0*F), last couple of days at-25*C and colder, not too much snow though at those temps. We live in a 4-plex and our apartment's about 1000 sqft, heat and everything is all-electric and our _year-round_ power bill is $87 a month CANADIAN. Mind you this place was built to R2000 standards about 15 - 20 years ago. So tight we have an air exchanger for each apt. Looking forward in the long-range forecast to -30*C +something in the New Year - brisk. ___ It is required to use your intelligence when the wind blows. ___ As the man says you can easily dress up for cold, hard to dress down enough for our summer highs, which last year hit about 35*C = about 95*F. 'Course we can always jump in a lake, which here in North Central BC are mostly glacial (in temperature anyway) :-) Mike in the geographic centre of BC |

I buy "Lite Salt", which comes in a light blue cylinder, and is about half KCl, the theory being that I can use as much as I want, and it won't cause an electrolyte imbalance. And, if possible, spoon for spoon, it actually tastes saltier then pure NaCl. Cheers! Rich |
