THANKS! they also have powdered copper after searching around their site.
turns out i can't use brass anyway. it contains zinc. the purpose of this was to use in molten glass. zinc isn't a good product to put into a kiln for an extended time without ventilation. regards, charlie cave creek, az http://glassartists.org/chaniarts "Leonard & Peggy Brown" wrote in message ... wrote in message oups.com... No link, just a question. What does the copper do ? it depends. i'm planning on fusing copper between 2 layers of glass. depending upon how much oxygen is around the copper because the edges seal before the middle of the glass fuses together, the metal reduces and can form colors from blue to turquoise to pink to green, or even multiple colors in the same slab. it's totally random and is a surprise when it comes out of the kiln, usually after about 36-48 hours of heating for thick slabs. i typically fuse up 1"-1.5" thick glass slabs, then slump them into ceramic or steel forms. this one's done with colored micas and glow in the dark ceramic powders: http://www.glassartists.org/Images/U...mg38838_6a.jpg regards, charlie http://glassartists.org/chaniarts |
