Homebrew 12 volt viscous liquid ( waste motor oil, gear oil ) pump ?
I am thinking of using an automotive oil pump connected to a 12 volt
heater , wiper motor , or even electric drill connected to an automotive oil pump ( basic Ford or GM)with flexible coupling to viscous oil - ie a "poor man's" gear type transfer pump . Will it work without leaking all over the place ? - thanks |

It'll work, but realize that a oil pump from the car is a pressure pump and
not a high volume pump. In priming a few engines with a drill motor I can say that 3/8" drill motor just barely works and a big old 5/8" Sioux drill does the job but ya better be holding on. That said I don't think that the heater or wiper motor is going to have enough power. I also think that you will have to be pumping fluids with some lubricating ability as the pump is all metal on metal inside and expects that the oil being pumped will lubricate it. lg no neat sig line wrote in message ups.com...
