The Coronavirus Hoax

wrote: Governments love crises because when the people are fearful they are more willing to give up freedoms for promises that the government will take care of them. After 9/11, for example, Americans accepted the near-total destruction of their civil liberties in the PATRIOT Act’s hollow promises of security. It is ironic to see the same Democrats who tried to impeach President Trump last month for abuse of power demanding that the Administration grab more power and authority in the name of fighting a virus that thus far has killed less than 100 Americans. 60000 now - but who's counting Declaring a pandemic emergency on Friday, President Trump now claims the power to quarantine individuals suspected of being infected by the virus and, as Politico writes, “stop and seize any plane, train or automobile to stymie the spread of contagious disease.” He can even call out the military to cordon off a US city or state. State and local authoritarians love panic as well. The mayor of Champaign, Illinois, signed an executive order declaring the power to ban the sale of guns and alcohol and cut off gas, water, or electricity to any citizen. The governor of Ohio just essentially closed his entire state. The chief fearmonger of the Trump Administration is without a doubt Anthony Fauci, head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the National Institutes of Health. Fauci is all over the media, serving up outright falsehoods to stir up even more panic. He testified to Congress that the death rate for the coronavirus is ten times that of the seasonal flu, a claim without any scientific basis. On Face the Nation, Fauci did his best to further damage an already tanking economy by stating, “Right now, personally, myself, I wouldn’t go to a restaurant.” He has pushed for closing the entire country down for 14 days. Over what? A virus that has thus far killed just over 5,000 worldwide and less than 100 in the United States? By contrast, tuberculosis, an old disease not much discussed these days, killed nearly 1.6 million people in 2017. Where’s the panic over this? If anything, what people like Fauci and the other fearmongers are demanding will likely make the disease worse. The martial law they dream about will leave people hunkered down inside their homes instead of going outdoors or to the beach where the sunshine and fresh air would help boost immunity. The panic produced by these fearmongers is likely helping spread the disease, as massive crowds rush into Walmart and Costco for that last roll of toilet paper. The madness over the coronavirus is not limited to politicians and the medical community. The head of the neoconservative Atlantic Council wrote an editorial this week urging NATO to pass an Article 5 declaration of war against the COVID-19 virus! Are they going to send in tanks and drones to wipe out these microscopic enemies? People should ask themselves whether this coronavirus “pandemic” could be a big hoax, with the actual danger of the disease massively exaggerated by those who seek to profit – financially or politically – from the ensuing panic. That is not to say the disease is harmless. Without question people will die from coronavirus. Those in vulnerable categories should take precautions to limit their risk of exposure. But we have seen this movie before. Government over-hypes a threat as an excuse to grab more of our freedoms. When the “threat” is over, however, they never give us our freedoms back. http://www.ronpaulinstitute.org/archives/featured- articles/2020/march/16/the-coronavirus-hoax/ * Big crybaby. |

The Coronavirus Hoax

That was last year, and there was no declaration of pandemic, Well, no declaration of pandemic is perhaps appropriate if those 'influenza' cases were divided among many different strains. Fatalaties from 'last year' means a whole year's victims, and for contrast, April fatalities from COVID-19 in the US were 55,000 and climbing. That's not per year, that's per MONTH, and it shows a climbing trend, which influenza doesn't. Prediction to match a yearly influenza toll has been suppressed by a not-very-clever wordsmith, and the result is ... well, a clear attempt to mask important truths. By over an order of magnitude. The shutdowns are why that April toll was so low; without shutdowns, it's easy to estimate about two orders of magnitude in the difference of COVID-19 deathly danger and that of sum-of-all-influenzas.. It's not clear whether 'thenewamerica.com' is the source of the lie, but I'm crossing that "source" off. They made garbage and called it analysis. You don't want to revisit that site. |

That was last year, and there was no declaration of pandemic, no shutting down thousands of businesses, no people wearing masks and told to stay at home, no long lines of workers applying for unemployment insurance, and more. With fewer deaths this year, big government has arrived and it has become a very frightening development. We ask simply: Is the Covid-19 “pandemic” overblown? Montana’s Doctor Ann Bukacek is a 30-year veteran of medical practice. The mother of five, she is a highly respected medical professional who operates a clinic in her state where she has practiced medicine for 30 years. She recently delivered some carefully worded skepticism about the coronavirus and the government’s response to it in a brief speech given to fellow Montanans. From Don Pogreba, the Montana Post: April 10, 2020 I have been meaning to write a piece about the nexus between the extreme right-wing and those who are endangering public health with absurd claims about the spread of COVID-19, but the Montana Human Rights Network already posted an indispensable look at one of the worst offenders, Dr. Annie Bukacek of Kalispell. From their report: Bukacek and Ammon Bundy, organizing a couple hours away in northern Idaho, are opportunists who are capitalizing on the fear and uncertainty of the current pandemic. Instead of supporting community cohesiveness, smart public-health measures, and policies that protect people, they are risking lives for the sake of militia ideology and personal notoriety. image3 (1) Not someone I’d trust as a doctor. Photo from Kalispell Rally. The Montana Human Rights Network has been researching and responding to white nationalists and anti-democratic extremists for 30 years. It’s clear these groups exploit every difficult circumstance in order to promote their agenda. Since more people are getting their COVID-19 updates online, anti-government militia activists are looking for openings on Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and other platforms to amplify their talking points. They are targeting websites with an uptick in visitors, like places promoting survivalist tips, alternative medicine, COVID-19 updates, and more. Since it’s difficult to fight an unseen and terrifying enemy like a disease, extremists are trying to provide real life targets at which people can direct their anxiety. For Bukacek, the enemy is her own local government. At a time when governments are needed to lead our collective efforts at public health, communities should continue listening to those who prioritize “flattening the curve” of COVID-19 and keeping the public safe. That includes public officials like the Kalispell City Council who are making decisions to lead with the best practices overwhelmingly endorsed by the medical community. Bukacek’s divisive ideas and activism are dangerous at a time when community and safety are clearly essential. The Flathead County Commissioners who appointed Bukacek to their health board did so knowing that she is an anti-vaxxer who has advocated extremist anti-government views her entire career, so it cannot surprise them to have learned that, rather than promoting public health, she is actively undermining it with bad science and even worse conspiracy theories. And while this is the most quixotic of pursuits, it’s worth noting that Bukacek’s influence extends to some of the most influential people in the Republican Party. Just yesterday, she posted a claim that, despite the consensus opinion of public health officials, Governor Bullock was doing more harm to Montanans by asking for a shelter-in-place. That comment was endorsed by Debra Lamm, former chair of the Montana Republican Party and a current candidate for the US House, as well as a host of Montana Republican legislative candidates. End of quote. Not exactly the type of "highly respected doctor" I want to be taking information from - but then I'm not a right-wing militia nutcase. |
