So NO they are NOT at all alike. Mormons allow for Muslims, but not the reverse. Christians had been burning and crucifying infidels (non-believers) and heretics (deviation from the orthodox Christian doctrine) for two thousand years. Your monotheistic God strives for submission and exclusion. Submit or die. You would have murdered all non-Mormons if you could. Please tell us the last time THAT happened. Perhaps when Jodie Arias decided her partner had strayed from the true Mormon path? It's alleged that throat cutting and beheading as part of the doctrine of "blood atonement' for heresy has a long history in Mormonism, along with posthumous baptism of serial killers and they seem to gave been very old testament and little different to ISIS IMO. Perhaps "Stormin Mormon" can enlighten us about "blood atonement", Mormon beheadings and secret graves. http://www.mormoncurtain.com/topic_bloodatonement.html "he must die by having his throat cut, so that the running of his blood would atone for his sins. Anderson, being a firm believer in the doctrines and teachings of the Mormon Church, made no objections... His wife was ordered to prepare a suit of clean clothing, in which to have her husband buried... she being directed to tell those who should inquire after her husband that he had gone to California. ‘We shed his blood, and now let us atone for it;’ and they would be willing to have their heads chopped off, that their blood might run upon the ground, and the smoke of it rise before the Lord as an incense for their sins.” - Prophet Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, v. 2, p. 179, February 18, 1855 Brigham Young And Blood Atonement Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at 09:12 AM Original Author(s): Jod3:360 Topic: BLOOD ATONEMENT -Link To MC Article- ? “The time has been in Israel under the law of God, the celestial law, or that which pertains to the celestial law, for it is one of the laws of that kingdom where our Father dwells, that if a man was found guilty of adultery, he must have his blood shed, and that is near at hand.” - Prophet Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, v. 4, p. 219 “I say, there are men and women that I would advise to go to the Presidency immediately, and ask him to appoint a committee to attend to their care; and then let a place be selected, and let that committee shed their blood. We have amongst us that are full of all manner of abominations, those who need to have their blood shed, for water will not do, their sins are too deep a dye... I believe that there are a great many; and if they are covenant breakers we need a place designated, where we can shed their blood... Brethren and sisters, we want you to repent and forsake your sins. And you who have committed sins that cannot be forgiven through baptism, let your blood be shed, and let the smoke ascend, that the incense thereof may come up before God as an atonement for your sins, and that the sinners in Zion may be afraid.” - Apostle Jebediah M. Grant, 2nd counselor to Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, v. 4, pp. 49-51 “I will tell you how much I love those characters. If they had any respect to their own welfare, they would come forth and say, whether Joseph Smith was a Prophet or not, ‘We shed his blood, and now let us atone for it;’ and they would be willing to have their heads chopped off, that their blood might run upon the ground, and the smoke of it rise before the Lord as an incense for their sins.” - Prophet Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, v. 2, p. 179, February 18, 1855 “Suppose you found your brother in bed with your wife, and put a javelin through both of them. You would be justified, and they would atone for their sins, and be received into the Kingdom of God. I would at once do so, in such a case; and under the circumstances, I have no wife whom I love so well that I would not put a javelin through her heart, and I would do it with clean hands.... There is not a man or woman, who violates the covenants made with their God, that will not be required to pay the debt. The blood of Christ will never wipe that out, your own blood must atone for it.” may be the same case spoken of by John D. Lee, who was sealed to Brigham Young and was a member of Young's secret Council of Fifty: "The most deadly sin among the people was adultery, and many men were killed in Utah for the crime. "Rasmos Anderson was a Danish man who came to Utah... He had married a widow lady somewhat older than himself... At one of the meetings during the reformation Anderson and his step-daughter confessed that they had committed adultery... they were rebaptized and received into full membership. They were then placed under covenant that if they again committed adultery, Anderson should suffer death. Soon after this a charge was laid against Anderson before the Council, accusing him of adultery with his step-daughter. This Council was composed of Klingensmith and his two counselors; it was the Bishop's Council. Without giving Anderson any chance to defend himself or make a statement, the Council voted that Anderson must die for violating his covenants. Klingensmith went to Anderson and notified him that the orders were that he must die by having his throat cut, so that the running of his blood would atone for his sins. Anderson, being a firm believer in the doctrines and teachings of the Mormon Church, made no objections... His wife was ordered to prepare a suit of clean clothing, in which to have her husband buried... she being directed to tell those who should inquire after her husband that he had gone to California. "Klingensmith, James Haslem, Daniel McFarland and John M. Higbee dug a grave in the field near Cedar City, and that night, about 12 o'clock, went to Anderson's house and ordered him to make ready to obey Council. Anderson got up... and without a word of remonstrance accompanied those that he believed were carrying out the will of the "Almighty God." They went to the place where the grave was prepared; Anderson knelt upon the side of the grave and prayed. Klingensmith and his company then cut Anderson's throat from ear to ear and held him so that his blood ran into the grave This wa also common in Old Testament Jewish law. Blood was the only thing that would atone for sins. See Hebrews 9:22 Christianity changed all of that. See First John 1:7 I'm not saying you have to believe it - but that is the difference between religions and Christianity. For as long as man can remeber - and beyond - in most "belief systems" blood was required as payment for "sins" - however they were interpreted. In Christianity the requirement for the spilling of blood was not removed - but the spilling of ONE MAN"S blood was considered adequate to cover the sins of ALL WHO BELIEVE. That's good enough for me!!!! Sure, but don't forget to tithe the church for Jesus spilling his blood. Your priest doesn't wander the desert and live on merely air and water. We have no priests, and the tithe doesn't pay for his blood. Ephesians 2: 8 and 9 -For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast - or as it is put in Clarke's Commentary on Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved, through faith - As ye are now brought into a state of salvation, your sins being all blotted out, and you made partakers of the Holy Spirit; and, having a hope full of immortality, you must not attribute this to any works or merit of yours; for when this Gospel reached you, you were all found dead in trespasses and dead in sins; therefore it was God's free mercy to you, manifested through Christ, in whom ye were commanded to believe; and, having believed by the power of the Holy Spirit, ye received, and were sealed by, the Holy Spirit of promise; so that this salvation is in no sense of yourselves, but is the free gift of God; and not of any kind of works; so that no man can boast as having wrought out his own salvation, or even contributed any thing towards it. By grace arc ye saved, through faith in Christ. This is a true doctrine, and continues to be essential to the salvation of man to the end of the world. |
