Krauthammer: There Is A "Statute Of Limitations On Whining"

... ... I had some in college but really it's just an intense intellectual hobby of mine, one of four. My son has the degree in econ, but he has a math minor and is in grad school now for math, so he's on the econometrics path. That's what his day job is, too. I can hardly talk to him about it. Once he starts hitting Bayesian Analysis, I'm cooked. d8-) Ed Huntress Hmmm, looks familiar: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matched_filter jsw |

Ed Huntress I posted it for the pictures that show extracting data from noise. This is the phenomenon that apparently initiated research into recovering signals that are buried in noise: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cocktail_party_effect A computer can try to match (correlate) all possible data patterns to the noisy signal and pick the one that fits best. jsw |
