Default Tool Swap Meet, Culver City CA

Hi all,

For those within driving distance of Culver City CA, the next big 'Old
Tools' swap meet is this coming Saturday, February 18th[1]... rain or
shine, free admission.

In the parking lot behind:

Anderson Plywood
4020 Sepulveda Blvd
Culver City CA 90230

http://www.andersonplywood.com/swapmeet.htm

Official times are 6:00a[2] to Noon. Suggest you bring a plastic
shopping bag or two, rag & flashlight.

These have been held four times a year for eons now, and are not to be
missed; any and everything imaginable shows up at one time or another.

You can also sell, see the link for more info.

Erik

[1] Yea yea, the 'Calendar' on the web page says Feb 19th... but note
that was for 2011... looks like the page hasn't been updated. The meet
is always the 3rd Saturday of Feb, May, Aug and Nov... as also mentioned
on the website... call them if you have any questions.

[2] You didn't hear it from me, but I suggest being there by 5:30a or
even earlier, as the juicy stuff goes immediately.

Good luck with the meet.

At most swap meets, the juicy stuff is gone well before the gates
open.

Vendors skim the best before the gates open, and setup after the gates
are open.

This situation continues until attendance is affected and then the
smart swapmeets lower the boom on the vendors...the dumb ones cease to
exist.

Also those running the swap meets have been known to use their
position for financial gain by selective shopping before the gates
open.

Anyone have these angles covered at the meet you mentioned?

Sure it happens to some extent, but don't think it's a big issue.

For one thing, there is usually small stream of late arriving vendors
that the masses get to pick over as they unload.

This meet is very informal...
