He sat like a lump reading "My Pet Goat" while 3000 died.

What would you have had him done ?
Until the second aircraft hit a tower it was not clear this was an
attack.

The problem was endemic in the Bush administration long before the
attack. Gore would not have ignored Clarke's warnings that Al-Quada was
a threat to the US. Bush was surrounded by cold war types who were
looking at the former Soviets and Chinese, and ignoring the people who
had been working the problems for the previous 8 years.
