Default Questions about an old Rock Island vise

Years ago I purchased a pallet that had among its items an old Rock
Island vise.

Anyone know the history of Rock Island?

Any links to Rock Island vise documentation?

This vise has a long bolt protuding from the bottom for fastening it
to the bench.

What needs do the bench construction require to mount this vise
properly?

Any idea what the jaws looked like on this vise? It looks like one jaw
is solid while the other jaw seems to be missing.

Also the base has a circular serrated plate that mounts between the
vise and the bench...how does this plate lock the the vise in
position?

Thanks for any info.
