Any suggestions as to what sort of engine to put on it? Probably a
Johnson..shrug...but what hp?

Get one of these for it and you'll have the fastest boat on the pond:

and with vectored thrust, it'll handle like a dream......right before
you hit Mach/Warp Factor 2, break the space-time continuum, and
evaporate into hyperspace. (That's a Raptor engine in the pic.....it
might require some custom made mounting flanges in your boat.)

This is 15 feet, 665 llbs dry weight. As one can see from the photos,
it needs some minor repairs..seat/storage covers, some electrical work
from the looks of it, maybe some docking cleats installed where the
original rails were mounted..or simply fill the holes with fiberglass
bondo and sand smooth. The trolling motor..a Minn Kota is probably DOA,
but they are not terribly expensive and I found a source for deep cycle
marine batteries, used but in decent conditon for very little money.
Ill find some "edging"...cant remember the name..stroke moment, to clean
up the edges of the storage holes..the original "edging" has shrunk over
time so its too short now, and put in the liner to the steering console.
Probably a slow Sunday project. The hitch on the trailer had been
repeatedly hit by something heavy..so I had to hammer it semi round to
get it hooked up. Ill heat it up with a torch and hammer it out
properly. It should probably be replaced..but the struts on the frame
were welded over the hitch itself..so that might be a bit of work
getting the old one off..and a new one on. Perhaps I can find one that
is a bit bigger than the original hitch, cut off the ball receiver and
install the new one over it. Shrug.

I figure I can sink $100 bill into new cleats, "edging", wiring,
lighting etc etc if I shop carefully on Ebay and at swap meets etc.
Then another $35-50 for paint, primer, fiberglass bondo etc etc.

That will give me a $150 decent boat, add another $80 for registration
of boat and trailer and Ill have sunk $250 into it. But only if I can
find a motor of some sort. Guy says he may know of a Johnson 50 I can
get for $100, but needs water pump impeller, plugs etc. No idea how
much that stuff costs anymore. Impellers used to be $20 the last time I
stuck one into a Johnson 50 hp. Probably $40 now.

Ive got spare anchors, life jackets, gas cans for Johnson motors etc
etc.

I could have as much as $500 tied up in it by the time Im done with it.
Think I can double my money if its all nicely painted and equipped?
Maybe more? Probably need to install a fish finder too...$100 or less
on Ebay.
But there is no rush. Ill park it along with the other Stuff and get too
it when I can.

Gunner, nice find. on a boat like this, a trolling motor will do pretty well.

I learned one rule of boating. There are two happy days in the life of
a boat owner.

One is when he buys a boat.

Another is when he sells it.

one throws money.

Then there is the rule of three F's: If it flies, floats or f**ks, rent it!
