Why don't you run and play and stop embarrassing yourself because you know nothing. If it's not Marxist, what would you call taking what I earned as a working person and giving it to those who will not work just to "level the playing field"? Government intervention in industry (General Motors, Chrysler, medical care) and making people dependant on the government, and suppressing the right and will of the people to protest their government isn't Marxist? You are the ignorant piece of **** if you actually believe that. I suggest you read up on Marx and communism, and socialism, and try to differentiate between "democratic socialism". Try to get some education and not be like the rest of you rightarded people. It's easy to see why conservatives are so anti-education. Jim You are incorreect, I am very PRO education. That is a good education that will provide a good scientist or engineer, not the crap taught in most liberal institutions. You know what I'm talking about. Masters degrees in library book dust, underwater basket weaving, PhDs in belly Button Lint Identification, etc. Jim |

You believe that specific training in fields like science or engineering are valuable but you really haven't the faintest notion of what the value of a liberal arts education is. If you truly valued education you would not think that way. You speak like an ignorant man and an uneducated one. Once someone receives a real college education it puts them far above the average person. Which is why so many people want one. Not just so they can make more money. The unfortunate thing is that the ordinary man, with no formal education never understands what he's missing unless he gets educated. You have shown you are one of them. Think of it like in the old days or in the movies when you heard an old man say to the kids, why do you need a college education? I did fine in life without one so if you ain't got one you can do just fine too? Get it? Probably not. Hawke |

I did fine in life without one so if you ain't got one you can do just fine too? Get it? Probably not. Hawke I happen to have one. I have also been in the classroom for over seven years as a substitute teacher before I retired and I have seen the quality of education take a nose dive. A four year degree these days is the equivalent to what a high school diploma used to be and a high school diploma is basically useless as far as what the kids know when they "graduate". Many of the kids who go on to college these days are functionally illiterate. They don't read well, they can't spell and their writing is atrocious. I fully agree with the premise that not everyone needs a college education. Some people would be far better off with an education in the old "vocational arts" classes and specialized training after high school. College used to be a well rounded education and even the scientists and engineers had some exposure to the "liberal arts". We don't really need more poly sci majors these days. Our standing among the rest of so called civilized countries in education is something like 48th when it used to be near, if not at, the top. College education isn't what it used to be. Jim |
