On the night of March 30, 2003, Chicago’s Mayor Richard M. Daley had
bulldozers sneak into the airport in the middle of the night and had the
runway torn up and destroyed. This demolition action by Mayor Daley
surprised everybody. The airplanes that were parked at Meigs when this
occurred had to be towed out of Meigs Field to another airport so they
could take off. "

I wonder how much Daley got in kickbacks and graft?

Hey Gunner,

I was pretty ****ed about it too, but I must admit they've made a nice
job of it since. Do a Google Earth, The "grey roofs" immediately west
(left) of the bottom tip of the old airport are the McCormick Place
buildings.

IMTS2010 will be held there in about a month.
