Yeah, the best physicists have been working continuously on this for 50
years with REAL budgets from the governments of the US and Japan, for
instance, and haven't really made any progress on practical machines.
Check the budgets and the availability of technical resources at Los
Alamos, Sandia and Lawrence Livermore labs. You really think Iran has
the resources to work on projects like this?

Makes as much sense as North Korea launching a nuclear strike over
US/South Korean military exercises.

This is why the Middle East is the dump that it is--billions for huge
live fire targets and glory projects but not one cent to actually
develop the economy beyond spending oil money.
