OT-Mosque at Ground Zero opens on 911

A mosque rises over Ground Zero. And fed-up New Yorkers are crying, "No!"

A chorus of critics -- from neighbors to those who lost loved ones on 9/11
to me -- feel as if they've received a swift kick in the teeth.

Plans are under way for a Muslim house of worship, topped by a 13-story
cultural center with a swimming pool, in a building damaged by the fuselage
of a jet flown by extremists into the World Trade Center.

The opening date shall live in infamy: Sept. 11, 2011. The 10th anniversary
of the day a hole was punched in the city's heart.

so, could you please explain the problem with this? is there any evidence
that the lease was acquired in an illegal manner? is there any evidence of
fraud or other bad dealings? I don't see how any objection could be
possible except if there was evidence of fraud

I'm sure he'd be mortally offended if someone wanted to build a Southern
Baptist church across the street from where a slave massacre happened, too.

Wow, that is almost as insensitive as the NRA holding their convention

What does the NRA convention have to do with Columbine? Is it the
fault of the NRA every time a criminal act is done with a gun? That
convention was planned for Denver long before Columbine, is there some
reason to postpone it? Would it have been OK in Washington, D.C.,
where the high murder rate in that disarmed city could easily have
accounted for the same number of victims in the same amount of time?

Or is it just another mindless issue for anti-gun zealots to whine about?

I was hoping someone in NY has more information since the
article is confusing. On one hand the say there is no funding
on the other hand they plan to open on 911 2011.

Explain the correlation.

While you are at it why did one of David Koresh's followers get a clue that a raid was
going to happen by a news crew asking for directions?

Oh, publicity is more important than a raid where the innocents are not harmed and few
notice. The feds turned this into a media event.

Koresh was a bad actor imho but the Feds acted criminally by making it a media event and
no one paid the price for that. Well no one unless McVeigh got lucky but he killed
innocents so he doesn't get any points either.
