centrifugal switches, *very* little online re DIY or "how to make'em"
anybody got any spare 1725 RPM centrifugal switches laying around? shaft
size unimportant. thought about making one, but can't find SHID on the net about it....like zero... looked at some old patents, most of the older ones involve "flyball governor" looking devices/not what I had in mind. need a nice simple design for some device I can whip together in 15 minutes, out of odds 'n ends.....adjustability would be nice, for varying the RPM 'kick off' speed alternately, a nice steveco 90-66 potential relay would be nice too though :-) ok, guys, have a fun-infested weekend toolie, back in the swamp |

You won't find much online since they are rarely used anymore in favor of VFDs, PWM drives, and better feedback systems. |

Most had a Centrifugal switch inside. |

Or, you could probably borrow one from any defunct single-phase motor. For a 15-minute jury-rig, maybe you could do something with a flap switch that senses the cooling fan in the motor. Jon |

I've got some SUPR Universal Potential Relays. New.
Don't know if they would work for you. Some info one the second page: http://www.supco.com/images/pdfs/Man...20-%20supr.pdf If you think they'll do the job, how about $25.00 ? Shipping included if yer in the grand old US of A. dave wrote: Pete C. wrote: A recent post on sci.enrg.joining.welding showed a very simple one. link please? I've been unsucessful finding a post like you describe. there -Was- one there recently discussing centrifugal GOVERNOR designs...not what I'm looking for... thanks though :-/ pete "Lee Governor question - P1010005.JPG (0/1)" is the post in question, and yes, it *is* a switch. How you wire the contacts determines whether it acts as a governor, limit switch, "up to speed" switch, etc. Functionally it is nothing more than a set of contacts that open when an adjustable RPM set point is reached. |
