I automatically plonk anything with the name longevity in it. I hope no one
wants to talk about length of life ...............

What I said about the OP stands.

Gunner, Tim: A reminder - Plonking is just like Fight Club. The
first rule of plonking is You Do Not Talk About Plonking.

If you just ignore them, they don't know any better. They just
think nobody had anything to say in response.

If you stand there with your fingers in your ears singing "La La La
Laaaa We Can't Hear You....." so they know what they are saying is
getting to you, they will just get closer and scream louder.

They crave negative feedback just as much as (if not more than)
positive feedback.

The persistent and halfway smart ones will figure out nym-shifting
on their own, and then you have to filter a hundred names instead of
one. Don't tell the others that they need to start and how to do it.

I figure this one isnt halfway smart based on the history of him and his
machine..nor by his inability to suck it up and deal with the fact he
bought a piece of ****..and then ignore repeated requests to knock it
the **** off with his whining and whatnot.

So I set an example for my fellows.

Anyone with enough between the ears not to pick up a soldering iron by
the wrong end *TWICE* would have already stopped whinging, bought a new
set of transistors, formed the legs and fitted them to a small strip of
perfboard to avoid stressing the encapsulation seal and run flexible
wire to the existing pads on the PCB or re-engineered the heatsink to
add a couple of support brackets to the board. Heck, if there is no
clearance topside, the flex link can be done by reaming out the pad
holes a tad and fitting 1/2" of braid track side! I'd expect pictures
of the successful modification in the drop box by now from anyone who
knows enough to ID the problem.

I rarely *plonk* but this one is teetering on the rim.

Indeed. In fact..some weeks ago, I made a cash offer to the fellow. He
never did bother to respond.
