I don't have a cite, I was born on an Air Force base, both parents citizens,
and I have naturalization papers. It may just be a process of verifying a
foreign birth to US citizens. I'm not challenging you, just curious.

The current forms for this situation are the:
Consular Report of Birth Abroad of a Citizen of the USA - FS 240
Certification of Birth Abroad - FS 545

I can't say what was going on in the 50s.

I think if I were an intelligent white woman with a son of mixed race
and multicultural background, I'd make sure that kid was documented as a
U.S. citizen.

And you were born where? Did your parents get you naturalized or
otherwise documented? Obama was born in Hawaii, which is every bit as
much a part of the United States as is Kansas.

Most of us can produce a birth certificate.

born in a hospital. My father and all his siblings were born at home, in rural
Pennsylvania, between 1913 and 1931. I doubt that any of them can produce a
birth certificate.

I had to have my birth certificate when i entered the military. They
were supposed to photocopy it, for my records. instead, they copied it
by hand, and over half the information is wrong, including two of my
mother's names. Try to get a mess like cleared up, some time. :(

Understood. You received a certificate of live birth also. It does not prove
where you were born, or which hospital you were born in, or who delivered
you like your official birth certificate does. It just proves you were born.
Have you tried running for President with your passport?
