"Jiazi" exhibition at Revere Academy, San Francisco
"Jiazi" is a japanese art-form in which the artist makes realistic
models of animals, insects, flowers, etc. in metal. Traditionally done in iron, it is also practiced in precious metals. One of my teachers at Revere is an heir to this technique via his family in Japan, and the school is hosting an exhibition of his and his family's work this summer. I thought the group might be interested. Some of the pieces are exquisite. Here's a link to a review of the technique and exhibit: http://www.ganoksin.com/orchid/jiazi.htm Regards, Bob |
