9.6 kW garage heater question -- coils too hot?

Ignoramus7637 wrote: http://igor.chudov.com/projects/Garage-Heater/ Iggy, the right question is: Which is cheaper - a UL listed heater, or a homebrew that might offer your insurance company an out (excuse not to pay) if there's a fire? Creative home-made stuff is all very well, but sometimes it's not a great idea. I suggest that this is one of those times. Perhaps in extra doses given your Chicago-area location...I seem to recall that they have all sorts of extra restrictions on wiring dating back to Mrs. O'Leary's cow. That said, you want a lot more fan, probably a big squirrel-cage blower rather than a wee muffin. -- Cats, coffee, chocolate...vices to live by |
