It may not be brand as much as model. Mortise locksets will
outlast cylinder locks by a huge margin. There are plenty of
major players. Go to a building hardware supplier (not the
hardware store and certainly not the borg). Present them with
your exact statement and let them show you some of the commercial
grade stuff.

Best, IMHO is Baldwin. Schlage D-line used to be good. I'm told it's really
gone cheap.

Very good: arrow commercial grade (don't think they make a cheap grade),
Schlage A-line. The commercial Dexter used to be very good.

Reasonable: Titan.

Simple solution? Ask a good locksmith. They tend to sell th e better brands
and models that will last many years. The big box stores tend to sell the
low end that look pretty today but will tarnish tomorrow. Commercial grades
are best and are expensive but as you can see, may be cheaper in the long
run if they last.

Another vote for Baldwin mortise locks. They are expensive, but they
last forever.
