I am interested in building bookshelves and some other things, including a
wooden divider (of the sort used in offices in plastic, but in wood), anyone
have a suggestion for a place to find templates or detailed drawings of how
to build such things?

You can find that sort of things in basic woodworking books at either the
library or the bookstore. Or do a Google search and find thing son the net.
