over the range microwave

this microwave trips out a 15 amp breaker after 4-5 minutes.,does new code
call for dedicated 20 amp line?

Its not so much a matter of code. What wattage is the unit. A dedicated 15
amp circuit is good for a max of 12 amps. Most over the stove units will
require a dedicated 20 amp circuit

Hi,

this microwave trips out a 15 amp breaker after 4-5 minutes.,does

new code
call for dedicated 20 amp line?

Microwave make, model#, approx age??

What does your use&care manual say?

*Usually* a problem with the unit will trip the breaker right away,
tripping after a while is oftne a weak breaker or undersized or too
many things on the same line.

Hi,
Something is wrong with the unit. Ours does not trip the breaker.
Known good breaker?

I think some folks have a deficient reading ability.
I just wonder what's the matter with them?

You have something wrong with your microwave. Or a really really high
wattage one (unlikely). Easier to just get a new one and put it on
it's own circuit.
