WWhat good is an apology when a retraction and denial is what is needed.?
Speaking of Maggie taylor greene and the others who post or say hateful,
racist, antisemitic, misogynistic or simlar nasty stuff, Have you ever noticed that all those who object ask for is an apology, not a retraction, not a denial of what they had said. At least for cases in the news, like in Congress and for other elected and appointed officials. What good ia an apology? Everyone still knows you think it and believe it and are only apologizing because others complain. I once was walking back from a store with someone and I insulted the car that was parked in front of mine and, generically, the owner. "What kind of jackass would own a car like this!" By coincidence, since there were loads of cars, the owner of that car was just a couple feet behind me and he heard what I said, and he objected. And I said, "I would have said that if I'd known you were the owner." That's not even an apology, but if I had included, "I'm sorry", would that have fixed anything? He would still know what I thought of his car and him. And what good would it be if Margaret Greene apologizes for her stupid, hateful accusations, like saying Nancy Pelosi should be killed, etc. Both people who agree with her and who disagree will still know that she feels that way. She hasn't even claimed not to. She and others should retract what they've said, deny its validity, claim they accidentally left out a "not" what they said, or were making a bad joke (I think one person did that about something and at first I thought it was a stupid exxcuse because it was not believable, but if said with enough gusto, pretend sincerity, like claiming most of the those who heard him knew he was kidding and he didn't realize one person there took him seriously, etc. Even if people who know other things about such a person will know he did mean it and he's lying now, most people won't and a retraction/denial will make the news now and help as much as is possible. it's still what he should say and what critics should demand of him, in private perhaps if applicable. |

At least for cases in the news, like in Congress and for other elected and appointed officials. What good ia an apology? What good is a retraction, or a denial of what they had said when they will go on to do it again ? They need to disembowel themselves like any decent Jap would. Everyone still knows you think it and believe it and are only apologizing because others complain. Just as true of a retraction, or a denial of what they had said. I once was walking back from a store with someone and I insulted the car that was parked in front of mine and, generically, the owner. "What kind of jackass would own a car like this!" By coincidence, since there were loads of cars, the owner of that car was just a couple feet behind me and he heard what I said, and he objected. He would still know what I thought of his car and him. But if you had disembowelled yourself, yourself, you couldn't have done it again. And what good would it be if Margaret Greene apologizes for her stupid, hateful accusations, like saying Nancy Pelosi should be killed, etc. What good is a retraction, or a denial of what they had said when you know she still wants Pelosi dead ? Both people who agree with her and who disagree will still know that she feels that way. Just as true of a retraction, or a denial of what they had said. She hasn't even claimed not to. I don't buy that. it's still what he should say and what critics should demand of him, in private perhaps if applicable. Or that either. I just tell those to **** off. |
