I also wonder how wide spread that mask mandate was in 1918. One picture or even a dozen pictures does not prove a national policy. Why don't you look it up then. I didn't make the statement that it was mandatory nationwide in 1918. It is pretty hard to prove a negative. I suppose I could find a picture of people in Lee County Florida not wearing masks that year tho. I bet they would shoot you if you walked up to them in one, thinking you were a bandit. Actually, it was not a nationwide thing. States and localities did it. I will take a page out of Joyce's book. Prove it. You are telling me every yokel in Arkansas was wearing a mask? I can believe it in New York City and maybe even in Chicago but I doubt it was true in Little Rock. (or any other rural area) Did I say anything to suggest that? So you disagree with those that say Trump should be pushing for a federal mask law? OK sorry for any confusion, my bad. I was talking about 1917. trump should be doing something. Hospitals are begging for testing supplies, and trump's FEMA is saying "they are out of the testing business". trump is the largest obstacle in this country to properly handling this disastrous pandemic. I was surprised to hear on the news last night that testing is not readily available in LA now. IDK if it has been that way all along or more likely it was better a month or two ago, but now has gotten worse again because of more demand. Either way, it's not good. And like you say, Trump just pretends it's all over and everything is fine. I think that is going to have a collision with reality when hospitals start to run out of ICU beds and ventilators again. Even if people are dying at lower rates, hospital capacity will run out if this keeps accelerating and eventually the death rate has to increase too. I was once the vice president, and when I realized the president wasn't going to do anything, I started doing what previous presidents had done. Of course, this was only the high school math club and all I did is recruit speakers from local industry. And the president didnt' try to ruin me like he would try to ruin Pence. Of course Pence is already ruined, so .... |
