Our house was built in 1960 and has real plaster over I-forget-what-it's-called-but-but-it-substitutes-for -laths on the main level and drywall in the basement. It's known regionally by different names, gypboard, drywall, sheetrock, blueboard/greenboard (mold resistant), etc. Whatever it's called, it's ****. It's powder held together with paper. Use wood for crying out loud.
