The Senate "trial" is not going to be satisfactory for the Democrats
no matter how it goes. McConnell could just let the House articles of
impeachment stand on their own merits and immediately call for a vote,
that the Democrats lose or I suppose he could investigate the Bidens
in the Senate, issuing subpoenas and taking testimony from everyone
within reach of the US Marshal Service. This is still a political
process, not a legal one and it can go anywhere the politicians want
it to go. The impeachment has certainly been a cash cow for the
Republican fund raisers.

That's right, it's a hail marry to try to get the Republicans to follow
the Constitution, do what's right, and hold a full impeachment trial
where the necessary witnesses, ie Bolton, Mulvaney, Perry, Pence
are brought before the Senate to testify as to the truth. Trump and
the GOP won't allow it, because they know what the truth is and that
the above will either have to lie and perjure themselves when there
is a mountain of solid evidence against Trump, or they will have to
take the Fifth. The third alternative, to do what is right for America
and tell the truth, isn't a choice for this cabal.

Or, it's sucker bait to set up the Repubs to prove that they care
nothing about the constitution. How many Americans are going to accept
McConnell's demonstrated plan to ignore his required oath to conduct an
non-partisan trial?

You are smoking democrat crack if you think the house show wasn't a
partisan procedure. Did you see all of those "points of order" gaveled
down with a "**** you". They said this procedure did not need to
follow house rules.
I see this going one of 2 ways now. McConnell. might just bring it up
to a vote right away or he might let his members go on the same
fishing expedition the House went on, with Senate subpoenaed power and
investigating the things Ukraine, the FBI and the House wouldn't. My
guess is the decision will be made on how the fund raising is going in
flyover country. This is all certainly political Kubuki Theater
played out on TV, mostly cable. I am so ****ing happy I cut that cord.

BTW, nobody has stood up that I would vote for. If Trump wins it won't
be with my vote.
