Can you ground the lamp to the inside of the metal lamp post using a screw.

Thanks Yes, but it will be virtually worthless. Put the lamp on its own circuit and use the smallest rated gfci you can. A better solution would be to run a new set of wires with a ground. Someone will provide more/better information. |

Thanks You can do it if it makes you feel better but it doesn't accomplish anything you are not getting from the mounting screws. There is certainly no guarantee of clearing a fault with that wire. Best advice, put it in a GFCI. |

Better yet...solar lamp. Just did it last month, Aug 2019.
