Default Midea Mini-Refrigerator Thermostat access

Midea WHD-125FBs1.
This is a very basic 2 door mini-frig,
It does not respond to thermostat as expected so I'd like to remove and
check.
Access requires removal of a panel held by 2 screws.
First is hidden by a plastic plug - easy.
Second is situated between the light socket and the wall.
This cannot be accessed directly by a screwdriver.
The space is insufficient for me to insert my shortest driver bit.
I cannot guess how this was assembled as the light socket seems pretty
solidly attached.
Any clues?
Thank you
