Exactly.

It might have been a bit more honest had the first line of the Reuters
report been accurately quoted:

"People who eat more organic foods may be slightly less likely to
develop certain cancers, a French study suggests."

And if all the hedging and provisos had been indicated too. Like:

"researchers dont have a clear picture of whether organic foods free of
these chemicals can help lower the risk of cancer"

and

"people who ate the most organic foods were more likely to be married,
have higher income and education levels, consume less red and processed
meat, and drink less alcohol".

But what can you expect from those who delude themselves and suffer from
untreated confirmation bias?

You don't seem to realise that the point of that statement is that those
factors are already associated with a reduced risk of cancer and that
eating organic food has not itself been shown to reduce the risk.

In scientific terms, there is no control group in the trial.

The point about science is that it establishes the truth. It may be
'bleeding obvious' to you that eating organic will prevent you being
sick or prematurely dead, but science, sadly, does not support you in
that belief.

You are so convinced by your own rhetoric that you believe everything
that appears on the surface to confirm your absurd views even if it doesn't.

Back in the '60s, BigTobacco had paid professional liars in white lab
coats testifying that smoking was good for us.

Today, BigAgChem has paid professional liars in white lab coats
testifying their patented GMO seeds and toxic farm chemicals are good
for us.

(We might have a BigAgChem shill right here in alt.home.repair)

Hopefully, the recent ruling against Monsanto is only the beginning.

The point about science is that it establishes the truth. It may be
'bleeding obvious' to you that eating organic will prevent you being
sick or prematurely dead, but science, sadly, does not support you in

Yeah, bet you said that about smoking, lead in petrol, paint .. the list
is endless.

The people who said that, many years ago incidentally, all had a vested
interest. As regards organic food, there are masses of independent
scientific studies by those with no axe to grind, none of which show any
significant advantage tastewise or healthwise of organic produce over
the equivalent conventional goods.

You are so convinced by your own rhetoric that you believe everything
that appears on the surface to confirm your absurd views even if it doesn't.

The numbers are irrelevant if the study does not include a control

conclusions can be drawn from it. Too many other factors are in play
that have not been eliminated.

In Thatcher's day fish fingers were made of cardboard. Since
your government is now Conservative, I wouldn't be at all surprised if
the "organic" food you import from Brazil is laced with
organochlorides. Which are now legal here, thanks to the
ruralist-backed right wing coup.

The right-wing name for the process is "self-regulation".

Exactly. The proper design of scientific tests ensures that. And it's
precisely why the results of the trial we're considering aren't worth
the paper they're printed on. There has been no attempt to isolate
eating organic food from any of the many other possible causative
factors of cancer. It's a fundamental and fatal flaw.
Science funded by multinational corporate businesses with profit as their

No, I mean all the many studies that have been carried out by scientists
with no agenda and no axe to grind, in properly designed trials, none of
which have shown any significant advantage tastewise or healthwise
between eating organic produce and the corresponsing conventionally
produced items.

You are so convinced by your own rhetoric that you believe everything
that appears on the surface to confirm your absurd views even if it doesn't.

My cock is organic. Wanna eat it?
LOL

I'm very hungry so sorry but I'm looking for a full lunch not a light
snack.

Pooh, I could murder some button mushrooms on a bed of steamy spaghetti.

This looks like his lunch:

They were very nice. What did you have for lunch? Why don't you try a
nice Zyklon B sandwich.

That could conceivably be misconstrued as vaguely 'anti-semitic'®™.

Jeremy Corbyn doesn't seem worried about such misconceptions, why
should you?

The point about science is that it establishes the truth. It may be
'bleeding obvious' to you that eating organic will prevent you being
sick or prematurely dead, but science, sadly, does not support you in
that belief.

Show me one that studied 70,000 volunteers.

The numbers are irrelevant if the study does not include a control
group. It's unscientific, probably self-selecting, and no valid
conclusions can be drawn from it. Too many other factors are in play
that have not been eliminated.

You need to learn a bit about scientific method.

You presented no proof of the methods used in this study. You made all
that up.

There's plenty enough to be going on with in the Reuters report:

https://uk.reuters.com/article/us-he...-idUKKCN1MW23D

If you want the full article:

https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jam...rticle/2707948

You should read the limitations set out in both, because effectivley
they consign the study to the dustbin.

You haven't studied this at all Norman because you missed the real
biggie that there was correlation between this study and other studies
and incidence of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and pesticide use. Wow wee! Yes
Norman, did you deliberately miss this because it's obviously very
interesting in light of the recent case about Monsanto's Roundup and
non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Why did you miss this Norman? Stay sharp Norman
because there are cats about. Your lack of attention to detail will be
exposed.

Anyway, considering this huge omission we can safely conclude that your
critique is worthless.

Anyone with an interest should listen to the podcast featuring one of
the French researchers and a Harvard scientist.
