Question about Drudge Picture
Drudge has a picture of maybe a dozen kids apparently walking in the
school parking lot where this latest shooting took place. There's a county deputy watching them. Each of the kids has both hands on the shoulders of the one in front. Why the hands on the shoulders? |

It is visually easier to monitor a contiguous chain for breaks then it is to monitor numerous individual links simultaneously. At least that is the theory. -- "In matters of conscience, the law of the majority has no place." "Truth Sounds Like Hate To Those Who Hate The Truth" |

Yes, that is the way they move prisoners but these are students I presume, not people in custody. |

There's the related issue that until proven "innocent", every one of those kids has to be considered a suspect in the shooting. Same deal when there's a bank hostage scene. -- __________________________________________________ ___ Knowledge may be power, but communications is the key [to foil spammers, my address has been double rot-13 encoded] |

Each of the kids has both hands on the shoulders of the one in front. Why the hands on the shoulders? Likely a local department and/or school protocol. One has to assume the shooter may be trying to escape as students are escorted out of the building. Easier to observe them in single file verses allowing a crowd to disperse in all directions, leaving potential for a shooter to get away. It makes the student keep their hands of their pockets in case a gun is being carried. In the Atlanta prison riots, federal employees were handcuffed until fully identified. Convicts have been known to take staff uniforms and put hostages in convict clothes. Handcuffing hostages became a new policy. |
