My parents raised a pig -- once. They managed to turn it into pork chops but it wasn't the most pleasant experience. Chickens are sort of anonymous and dumb but a pig can grow on you so they stuck with chickens after that. |

Pig are smart, I'm betting as smart as dogs and farm kids who've raised a prized hog for the state fair get upset when their pet pig is turned into pork chops. I had a roommate once who was ex-Navy and he told me that when he was stationed in The Philippines, his dog vanished. It turns out that his neighbor ate it. When I was a kid on the farm we had dogs and cats but no livestock. I made do with a pet pecan tree. I thought it was nuts to have a pet that needed a lot of care. ヽ(ヅ)ノ [8~{} Uncle Tree Monster |

They always warned us not to feed the hogs, especially not sugar beats, because they said the hogs would break out of the pen and kill us trying to get more beats. |

Chickens are sort of anonymous and dumb but a pig can grow on you so they stuck with chickens after that. Hunting buddy had a small farm and raised chickens and pigs for himself. Bought a calf to raise for the beef and his son named it Bosco. We were goose hunting one day and broke out lunch and friend offered me a roast beef sandwich which I declined as I had my own lunch. He said, "Bosco will be disappointed." |

The airline would have to let it on if it behaves and wouldn't obstruct the aisle. |

Except maybe rooting up a flower bed or two it never got into trouble. It just wanted a little change of scenery and probably would have been home for supper. In later years I had a beagle that would do the same thing except I had to bail him out of the pound every now and then. The dog would hunt but in comparison the pig was a genius. |

The family had a pot belly pig so the house was literally a pigsty. Dirt up the walls and cabinets where it walked. Even the back yard had to get new turf. |
