What gets me is the arrogance of these morons who actually believe the "Normal" activities of humans will change anything but their local environment. Of course if we start a nuclear war, all those H-bombs going off will have a global effect just as setting fire to half a continent or to major oil fields will spew pollution into the Earth's atmosphere that can be detected on the other side of the largest ocean. A single volcanic eruption can shut down air travel across a continent. As far as I know, no "Normal" human activity can do the same. o_O [8~{} Uncle Polluted Monster |

And produced huge amounts of illegal pollutants which are known hazards. from https://www.osha.gov/dts/hazardalert...ard_alert.html What are the health effects of DE/DPM? a.. Short term exposure to high concentrations of DE/DPM can cause headache, dizziness, and irritation of the eye, nose and throat severe enough to distract or disable miners and other workers. b.. Prolonged DE/DPM exposure can increase the risk of cardiovascular, cardiopulmonary and respiratory disease and lung cancer. In June, 2012, the International Agency for Cancer Research (IARC) classified DE (including DPM) as a known human carcinogen (Group 1). |

As soon as you see the words "up to" the figure following is meaningless. Nowhere have I seen how much they actually put out under real-world driving conditions or, given the tiny amounts involved, whether it's going to make a material difference in air quality. How much pollution will be emitted from the manufacturing of replacement vehicles? For an accurate picture be sure to start from the mining of the raw materials and include the energy used. -- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Roger Blake (Posts from Google Groups killfiled due to excess spam.) That would be "up to" 40 times. You're asking for a real world cost/benefit analysis. That ain't going to happen any time soon. UP TO 40 TIMES MORE gets better contributions and funding. |

I think they should do away with current annual or bi-annual checks and just put detectors out on the roads like speed traps just to get off the big polluters. One malfunctioning car, truck or bus may be spewing our more crap than 100 surrounding vehicles. We've all smelled them on the road. There are the proggies that object to all gasses from vehicles, not just CO2 but even water vapor. All the faulty VW's are producing many times the limits. THAT is a real problem! I thought global warming was a real problem. Snicker, snicker. Here we go... Only the clueless think there can be only one problem caused by exhaust. |

I wonder how the total yearly emissions compare to a Freightliner? The standard is 0.053 ppm, so 40 times that puts us up to a massive 2.12 ppm. 2 ppm is about the CO level in most homes. It will be hard to make a mountain out of that molehill. The mountain was made by a huge criminal corporation. |

How many tons of nitrogen oxide per year are produced by the 70,000 affected TDI engines in the US? How does this compare to the overall production of nitrogen oxide from other sources? 'Up to 40 times' doesn't mean **** to a tree. |
