No. Snowdon doesn't have information on what the US is doing to evesdrop on Russia, he has information on what the US is doing to evesdrop on Americans, and that kind of info is of little interest to the Russians.

Putin gave Snowdon asylum because he knew if he put him on a plane back to the USA, his critics in the Kremlin and abroad would have called that proof that he's Obama's puppet or that he's sucking up to the White House.

Putin granted him asylum on the condition that he release no more confidential documents, which means that he can't do any more harm than he's already done. And I see that as a pretty good line to take since Putin's not doing what the US wants, but he's not pi$$ing off the US either. After all, I expect one of the biggest reasons the White House wants Snowdon in a US jail is because they don't know how much confidential information he's stolen, and they want to make sure he doesn't release any more secrets than he already has. No one can do anything about what he's already released, not even Snowdon himself. Giving him asylum, but putting a cork in his mouth, addresses the White House's biggest concern while still giving all appearances of a genuine "Made in Russia" solution as to what to do with Snowdon. It's called "diplomacy".

Today my cleaning woman showed me the scar she got from a what had always
been a friendly dog that somehow got a brain blip and bit her. She's a real
dog lover, too and knows how to approach dogs so as not to trip their
defensive senses. Or so she thought.

I was badly attacked by dogs when I was very young and it wasn't until my
late '50's that I owned one. It taught me once again you can't judge the
many by the actions of a few. It took rescuing a dog with a 5%-20% survival
chance and watching her pull through and respond to our care. Now I can't
imagine life without her. They know when you've saved their lives.

Unfortunately that experience wrecks what I believed was a universal truth -
that people over 40 years old don't ever change much. I still won't
approach a dog I don't know without caution, but my attitude has pretty much
completely reversed about dogs.

I am not sure how you compare a book written from personal experiences
and opinions with stolen government documents.

Snowden got asylum because the Russians wanted those stolen documents.
In real life they have had the documents for months, they just want
Snowden in the box until they can read them all.

Snowden got assylum because the USA has given asylum to terrorists from
Russia in the past.
Also it embarasses the USA and draws attention to the above.

I don't suppose for a moment he has any information they want.
