One way, probably the best way, to avoid similar future tragedies is to
provide free admission to holders of concealed handgun permits.

If it were free there wouldn't be room for paying customers. G

Good idea though, I can think of other businesses too that might offer a
nice discount (50%?) for CHL holders in exchange for free security.

Hell, just the sign alone advertising that fact would dissuade any
dip**** criminal.

I'm a little surprised a dozen CHL's were not in the theatre to fight
back, it is Colorado after all.

Considering that CHLs are 1-2% of the population, the odds of having
"dozens" of them in a cinema are quite small
PARTICULARLY if said cinema happens to be in a "progressive"

I agee. Sadly, the theaters, or maybe thier insurance, mandates a "no

There were probably dozen or more CHL holders, whose guns were in the trunk

Even if there were CHLs carrying in the theater, or even if the theater
was rife with uniformed police, there was no way to return fire in a
dark theater with smoke/teargas, and it seems the perpetrator was
wearing armor as well.

As for the perpetrator, a 24yo neuroscience doctoral candidate from San

I just read that Cinemark has signs posted on their properties barring
CHL holders from carrying inside. In Texas we call it a 30.06 sign,
named cleverly after the TX criminal code number. Unless the sign is
right on the door and must be in big enough letters the 30.06 rule
applies. A normal "no guns" sign or a picture of a gun with a line
crossed through it does not mean squat for CHL holders. It *must* read
verbatim:

"Pursuant to Section 30.06, Penal Code (trespass by holder of license to
carry a concealed handgun), a person licensed under Subchapter H,
Chapter 411, Government Code (concealed handgun law), may not enter this
property with a concealed handgun";

or:

(B) a sign posted on the property that:

(i) includes the language described by
Paragraph (A) in both English and Spanish;

(ii) appears in contrasting colors with
block letters at least one inch in height; and

(iii) is displayed in a conspicuous manner
clearly visible to the public.

Whole thing:
http://law.onecle.com/texas/penal/30.06.00.html

Or... they can ask you to leave if they don't have a sign and see your
weapon and object. If you don't leave on the propertys owners demand
(or authorized personnel) you can be arrested under this statute. Goes
the same for private homes.

Then there is the list of places never to carry; schools, bars (51%
rule), public sporting events, court, and a few more I'm forgetting
off-hand.

Can't exactly tell whether you're serious.

"The James Holmes for whom Breitbart News has obtained documentation is 25
years old (the suspect has been reported as 24 years old). He has links to
addresses in both Colorado and San Diego, where his mother has been reported
to be from, according to news reports. He was issued a traffic citation in
2011--his sole run-in with the law. The same is true for the suspect
arrested in connection with the shootings, according to reports. Update: Fox
News reports that the suspect has a California-issued social security
number, as does the man in the documents obtained by Breitbart News--a
significant correlation, assuming the sources are independent.

"Furthermore, the James Holmes for whom records were obtained by Breitbart
News registered as a Democrat on June 14, 2011. He registered from an
address in La Plata County, Colorado, and his status is listed as
'inactive.' "

The report goes on to say that due to some minor, almost insignificant,
discrepancies, it is impossible to tell with absolute certainty and proof
beyond rational doubt that the shooter was a Democrat.

Back in '95, when Texas passed its concealed carry law, the legal eagle from
the Texas Restaurant Association advised against posting ANY sign, whether
for or against, concealed carry. His reasonings were thus:

* If a restaurant prohibits concealed carry, the presumption can be that the
restaurant will take responsibility for its patrons safety. If something
nasty does happen, a permit holder who left his weapon in the car will have
a sustainable action against the restaurant for failure to perform an
implied duty.
* If the restaurant puts up a sign encouraging permit holders and a permit
holder someday takes vigorous objection to finding snot on his lettuce, the
other diners will immediately sue the restaurant for creating a deadly
nuisance.

Best to remain silent on the subject, the lawyer concluded.

Actually, about two million times a year, law abiding US citizens protect
themselves from violence, using personally owned fire arms. The answer is to
reduce the laws on the law abiding.

Like when Gabrielle Gifford was shot. A law abiding citizen heard the shots,
and ran to see what was going on. Sadly, he arrived after the shooting. No
one at the meeting was armed. Except the criminal, of course.

This guy _knows_ all this. He has been told about it by me and others

from bottom to top vs top to bottom. With facts snipped out.

He has to *make* sure his religion is on his sleeve, not caring about
what you or others think. AS long as his sig is on TOP. He was told
how to put his sig at the bottom and offered help to do so.

I only see him (think "Sanders" / '"Sandroid') when people reply to

He does as he wishes, so FARK him, I say. He won't see this at first

And a gas mask? And a ladder to get up high enough to target the
perpetrator over the herds of people trying to escape? And what about
the herds of people trampling the CHL (or Cop)? Face it, it was a
relatively hopeless situation, a theater is essentially fish in a
barrel, and if the perpetrator didn't have a gun and instead lobbed
firebombs or rammed the theater with a stolen semi the results would be
about the same casualty wise.

Something like that hapened years ago in a Texas restrurant. A woman left
her handgun in her car and had to watch as a gunman killed her mon and dad.
I think the law was changed with her help.

I went back and looked. Hebe Bub's text was indented with chicken scratches.
Below, you can see the double indents, that's not your text.

Chris, your top-posting and trimming is now misquoting *me*. Would you
at least leave the attributions intact please?

You made it look like I wrote this:
"One way, probably the best way, to avoid similar future tragedies is to
provide free admission to holders of concealed handgun permits. "

When it should have been attributed to HeyBub.

[S.M. reply snipped]

See?

If it were free there wouldn't be room for paying customers. G

Good idea though, I can think of other businesses too that might offer a
nice discount (50%?) for CHL holders in exchange for free security.

Hell, just the sign alone advertising that fact would dissuade any
dip**** criminal.

I'm a little surprised a dozen CHL's were not in the theatre to fight
back, it is Colorado after all.

"fair game" means that law abiding citizens can carry legal private
property?

I just read that Cinemark has signs posted on their properties barring
CHL holders from carrying inside.

Costco has no signs posted, but hide the prohibition of guns in the
"agreement". I don't shop there.

In Texas they have to post it, or it's fair game.

Isn't it amazing, that the crazy, evil violent guy didn't choose to shoot up
a gun show? He chose a place with hundreds of unarmed people.

There was a shooting here in Pittsburgh not long ago. Guy walks in hospital
starts shooting. A mental hospital. I don't think the guy even went there,
turns out he took drug or drugs to tame his illness. He was not talking his
drug like he was suppose to. This sort of thing happens all the time.
Nobody monitors them.

It was suppose to be a big day in Pittsburgh since much of the movie was
shot here. Remorseful and sunken feelings.

In your favorite search engine, type "US guns for self defense" and it comes
right up.

Do you have a link for that Chris? I really need to show it to someone.
